Security

Syntax DataShield uses streamed encryption using 448 bit encryption (military grade) compression.

The Syntax DataShield software compresses and encrypts your data on your computer before backing up to the backup server.

Compression

Syntax DataShield compresses and encrypts your backup data at the client machine itself and the compressed data is then transferred to our backup servers. Our software uses streamed compression of the backup data on the client side by using a well known algorithm. The compression ratio depends on the type of the file/folders configured for backup. For example, Excel and Word files, depending upon the content of the files get compressed to about 80% to 90%. If the backup data is already compressed (for example: jpg, gif or zip files), then the compression ratio will be lower.

Encryption and Security

Syntax DataShield uses streamed encryption using 448 (military level) bit encryption. It uses the well known blowfish encryption algorithm. The encryption happens on the client PC first then your data is transferred to the backup server. All data sent over the internet is encrypted, secure and therefore safe from hackers.

Who can view my data?

Since your data is encrypted even our own employees cannot view your data. We know how much data you are storing but cannot view the actual data files or its contents.
